2025 Street Resurfacing Project

Overview

The Town of Carrboro maintains 48.04 miles of roadways comprising of 566 street segments or blocks, 41 miles of sidewalks, and 872 curb ramps throughout the community. The 2025 Street Resurfacing Project is intended to keep streets and curb ramps safe and in good condition for all users, and to make improvements strategically and efficiently to ensure safer and longer-lasting streets and curbs.

Project Description

Carrboro’s 2025 Street Resurfacing Project includes improvements to 27,574  square yards of roadways.  Work includes pavement milling, resurfacing, installation of a new sidewalk on Roberson St and related construction activity such as curb ramp improvements, manhole adjustments and pavement markings.  

The project will begin with improvements aimed at accessibility and infrastructure. The initial phase focuses on upgrading sidewalk ramps to meet ADA compliance standards and repairing existing curb and gutter systems. The final phase will center on street resurfacing.

Project Timeline (Weather Permitting)

Work is set to begin in late Monday, July 28th, with completion anticipated by spring 2026. 

Concrete upgrades, including curb ramp improvements, are scheduled to begin July 28th on Tar Hill Drive. Paving and milling work will start Monday, August 4th and continue into the spring.   

Notifications

NO PARKING signs will be posted in advance on streets directly affected by the project. 

 During Resurfacing

  1. Please observe all signage and flaggers.
  2. Be aware of all workers and equipment in the street and please drive slowly and carefully. 
  3. Please do not park on street until work is complete and your entire road has been paved and stripped. If you cannot avoid parking, on the street please be prepared to move your vehicle upon request when work is being performed on your street.  
  4. Please keep yard debris out of street/curb.  

Residents and motorists may be inconvenienced by the project work. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation during the period of improvement.
