Pride Month

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+) Pride Month is celebrated nationally and locally each year in June. Through our Pride month events, we affirm community values ensuring that all residents, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, are treated with respect and dignity.

Small Town Pride is a way of involving the entire community in promoting equality and celebrating diversity and acceptance. The towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill involve local businesses, artists, volunteers and community partners. Everyone is welcome! Check out all the events coming up!

EVENT PARKING

It’s easy to find free two-hour public parking in Carrboro, where you can access convenient parking at 11 public lots all over town. Convenient parking may be found nearby at the Drakeford Library Complex, 203 S. Greensboro St. (access the parking deck via Roberson Street).

Please remember that Carr Mill Mall is for mall customers and is not a public parking lot. Leaving the mall premises after parking risks towing.  This means that if you plan to start your day at Weaver Street Market and join the People's Parade to Town Hall, you should not park at any Carr Mill Mall lot (including the Weaver Street lot and the Harris Teeter lot).

When in doubt, always park in public lots, and enjoy a hassle-free and relaxed shopping and dining experience in downtown Carrboro.

This fun, quirky, short video kicked off a joint Carrboro-Chapel Hill monthlong Pride celebration in June 2021. Openly LGBTQ elected officials (Chapel Hill Council Member Karen Stegman and former Carrboro Mayor Lydia Lavelle) walk to meet each other on the border of the two communities.  Produced by the Town of Carrboro, the video won an award from the NC City & County Communicators Association (NC3C) for "Most Creative with Least Dollars."
